Onion traders panel is connecting individuals who form online chamas and invest in onion farming via OTP. The chamas vary in size depending on how much each member can afford. From as little as an investment of 1000/- in a period of 4 months, it will be a different story. Members of each existing or newly formed chamas will be able to communicate with each other no matter their locations and will be able to share progress reports from OTP.
OTP will oversea the activities of the chamas and offer special services to every chama. When a chama is formed, its sole purpose is investing together in onion farming. The funds will be managed by a newly formed committee which will help chamas in budgeting and sending periodic reports on expenses and progress. OTP will manage the activities and progress of investments made by chamas and provide experts for each chama. Since most members are strangers its advised you keep it an otp online affair unless you know the person well. On harvesting, all members of the chama will be present with OTP officials and confirm the harvest whereas the returns will be divided equally among members.
Investing will be done via OTP and not through a particular member to ensure its an open and transparent business. Members just need to identify each other online and join an existing group or form a new one through OTP as per the size of their investment. HOW TO FORM OR JOIN AN ONLINE CHAMA

Each member in a chama will contribute a certain amount of money according to the category and plan they choose once their chama is launched. There are different categories, people who fall under the same category, timeline and plan are organized into a chama.
HOW IT WORKS
Its simple. OTP chamas are meant to enable farmers join together to invest in large scale farming or reduce the workload on the expenses required to cultivate onions through an organized channel. This chamas are automatically formed when members register online and they are categorized according to location, type of plan[e-commerce,combo or unlimited], and timelines. Once applicants of the same categories are identified,they are grouped into chamas. Once a chama has been established members who match according to category are notified via email and telephone and contacts of each member sent to him/her. The members can therefore keep constant communication on the progress of projects. Each chama will have an OTP expert who will keep updating the group. Chamas will as well have a whatsapp group created for them where they can hold open conversations. Since in most cases this chamas will be online[and are meant to be online], a cost breakdown will be offered to each member in the chamas as per the plan in that particular chama. Contributions are one time[only at the beginning of the project] and are made to OTP account and not among members. After the contribution of each member in a chama has been recorded, the project kicks off immediately under care of OTP. We monitor closely the project, apply our expertise and at any point members of that particular chama can visit the farm where their onions are being cultivated and as well receive weekly reports on the same. To help members avoid inconviniences, all chama projects will be done on OTP land under a contract. As per the policy governing this plans, chamas,especially where they were formed online, are cautioned of engaging in projects without the consent of OTP and will only be doing that at their own risk. Each chama member will be dealing directly with OTP and after harvesting, the members of a chama shall share equally all the proceeds just like they invested equally into the project.
